Ethical Manufacturing Matters: Tudor School Uniforms

Accredited since 2025, Tudor School Uniforms is a family owned, ethical manufacturer based in Brisbane.

Specialising in formal and custom-made sports uniforms, Tudor School Uniforms supplies uniforms to schools Australian wide with small minimum order quantities and 4 week delivery times. The majority of their products are made in Australia and accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

We interviewed Director Tracey King about Ethical Clothing Australia accreditation and how its transformed their operations, the challenges and benefits of ethical manufacturing, and why supporting local matters.

What does it mean to be accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia?

We’re proud to reassure our school clients that their Australian Made Tudor garments are produced ethically. We have taken the time and made the effort to become accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia for this reason.

How has our accreditation transformed the way you operate?

Our manufacturing is all outsourced. During the process of becoming accredited with Ethical Clothing Australia, we had the opportunity to strengthen relationships with our local workrooms and factories, and become more personally involved with their operations.

What are some of the challenges of manufacturing school-related products in Australia?

Price is the main challenge we face with our school clients. Parents feel the cost of living pressures and often opt for more cost effective options when it comes to school uniforms.

What are some of the benefits for schools when it comes to working with local and ethical manufacturers?

We offer small minimum order quantities to school clients when we work with our local manufacturers – this is a big bonus for small schools. We can also offer quicker lead times when working locally as there’s no need to allow time for shipping of garments into Australia.

What impact does local and ethical manufacturing have on people, your business, and the industry at large?

When school clients order Australian Made uniforms through Tudor, they know they’re supporting local industry and families.

It is always positive to find a school that is committed to ordering Australian Made, this helps to ensure the longevity of the manufacturing industry here in Australia.

What innovations are you implementing to improve efficiency while maintaining ethical standards?

We recently engaged the services of an Ethical Clothing Australia accredited factory that offers all manufacturing aspects of school garments under one roof.  From cutting and sewing to decorating and even packaging, having all processes in the one factory improves efficiency and lead times of each order.
