Procurement Benefits Of ECA Accreditation
Any business which manufactures or arranges for the manufacture of TCF products in Australia (including value-adding services on to Australian-made products) is eligible to apply for accreditation by ECA. By becoming accredited you are demonstrating that you value the people who make your products throughout your supply chain, by undertaking an independent third-party audit to ensure compliance with the relevant Australian workplace laws.
Accreditation with ECA has the following benefits:
- Exposes your business to tender opportunities for the procurement of uniforms, workwear and PPE for government departments and other organisations
- Aids in connecting your business to the relevant bodies who are seeking Australian made product
- Makes your business eligible to be listed on the Victorian Government’s Ethical Supplier Register to promote your business’s local manufacturing capabilities to procurement managers
- Aids with exposure and marketing of your business through ECA’s social media

The Victorian Government Procurement Policy
In 2018, the Victorian Government made some changes to their Procurement Policy and mandated that all government buyers are to procure locally manufactured uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment, wherever possible. The government policy includes the requirement that Australian manufacturers of TCF goods applying for tenders must be accredited, or in the process of seeking accreditation by ECA and maintain their accreditation throughout the term of contract with the Victorian Government. This policy change has been a great support to the local industry and local jobs, with a higher demand placed on local manufacture.
By becoming accredited, you are opening your business up to opportunities to supply locally made products to Victorian Government departments.
The Ethical Supplier Register
As part of the procurement policy, an Ethical Supply Register has been set up which lists the contact details of manufacturers and their capabilities so procurement managers can get in touch with the appropriate people. When buying locally manufactured uniforms and PPE, Victorian government departments and agencies must procure from registered suppliers on the Ethical Supplier Register.
To be on the Ethical Supplier Register, suppliers of TCF uniforms and PPE manufactured in Australia must be accredited or in the process of seeking accreditation by ECA.
