Olympic and Paralympic Uniform Campaign

We believe Australian Olympic and Paralympic uniforms should be made in Australia.

The Brisbane 2032 Games are a once-in-a-generation opportunity to back Australian workers and ethical manufacturing.

Most Australians agree: our national team should be wearing uniforms made in Australia. According to a recent poll from YouGov, more than 8 in 10 Australians support local manufacturing for Olympic uniforms, across all demographics. Australia’s textile, clothing, and footwear industry is ready to deliver.

Choosing Ethical Clothing Australia–accredited local manufacturers helps protect workers from exploitation, strengthens our local industry, and ensures the economic benefits of the Games are realised here at home. With up to $70 billion in economic opportunity at stake, we need you to take action with us to ensure uniforms are made locally and ethically.

About the campaign

As Brisbane gears up for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Australia has a chance to shine both on and off the field. By choosing local, Ethical Clothing Australia-accredited manufacturers for Olympic uniforms, we can support Australian workers, reduce exploitation, and ensure the economic benefits of the Games are realised here at home.

  • Ethical manufacturing ensures that workers are paid fairly, work in safe conditions, and are treated with respect — both in Australia and overseas. The global textile, clothing and footwear industry has a long history of exploitation, including low wages, unsafe workplaces, and coercion.

By prioritising local, Ethical Clothing Australia–accredited manufacturers, the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games reduce these risks, giving confidence that uniforms are made ethically. At the same time, supporting local manufacturers strengthens Australia’s textile, clothing and footwear industry. Many businesses are ready to scale up production for large contracts, invest in new equipment, and upskill their workforce. This helps create economic opportunities and ensures the Games leave a lasting, positive legacy for Australian industry.

  • You can help make Brisbane 2032 a Games that supports ethical manufacturing, worker protections, and local industry. Here’s how:

    • Sign up to the newsletter – we’ll only be in contact with important updates and information.
    • Write a letter to the Brisbane Organising Committee or to a politician – our tool makes it easy!
    • Share a social media post with your networks to raise awareness.
    • Sign the petition to show your support for locally and ethically made Olympic uniforms.
    • Advocate to your community, colleagues, or suppliers about the importance of ethical procurement.
    • Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) if you are a local manufacturer ready to produce uniforms or other textile products for the Games.
  • Procurement is the process of sourcing goods and services — everything from uniforms and technology to venues and security.

Why is procurement important for Brisbane 2032?
The Games represent a huge opportunity to invest in Australia’s local textile, clothing, and footwear (TCF) industry. Large-scale purchases mean local businesses can hire more staff, invest in equipment, and grow their capacity.

    Why focus on ethical procurement?
Long and complex supply chains can make it hard to ensure every worker is treated fairly, increasing the risk of exploitation. Ethical procurement helps protect workers’ rights and supports businesses that meet high employment standards.

Does the Brisbane Organising Committee support this approach?
Yes. The Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee (BOC) has stated that prioritising local industry and ethical procurement, including upholding human rights, is a key focus area for the Games.

  • By choosing local, accredited manufacturers, procurement keeps investment and jobs in Australia, strengthens local skills, and supports the long-term growth of the textile, clothing and footwear industry.

  • Ethical Clothing Australia accreditation gives assurance that workers are paid fairly, treated with respect, and work in safe conditions. It provides transparency and accountability for suppliers, meaning uniforms can be ethically made at scale for the Games.

  • Ethical Clothing Australia-accredited manufacturers are independently audited, and labelling allows anyone to see that products are ethically and locally made.
