Local Manufacturing Matters: Lessons from a Victorian Tea Towel Production Run

In today’s procurement landscape, businesses are under growing pressure to reduce risk, demonstrate transparency, and meet compliance obligations under frameworks such as the Modern Slavery Act (Cth), ESG reporting, and social procurement quotas.
Ethical procurement in action: showcasing local manufacturing
Ethical Clothing Australia connects organisations with accredited local manufacturers who can deliver uniforms, workwear, PPE, medical garments, and other textile products with assurance that workers are paid fairly and working safely.
A practical example: The Ethical Clothing Australia Tea Towel
To showcase what local, accredited manufacturing looks like in practice, we commissioned a limited run of 200 tea towels in September 2025.
Two Victorian ECA-accredited businesses collaborated on the project:
- Next State Print (Thornbury): printed and sewed the tea towels.
- Jointak (Leongatha): wove the labels.
