This March Australia’s largest fashion event, the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) returns to Melbourne, and a range of businesses accredited with Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA) are taking part on the runway and beyond!
 

To make it easy for you we’ve put together a list of what you need to see to keep up-to-date with everything ECA during VAMFF 2019.

 

Nobody Denim Laundry Tour
Date: Saturday 2 March
Times: Various
 

Do you want to see some behind-the-scenes action? As part of VAMFF group tours will take place in Nobody Denim’s Laundry – the home of its innovation, action and experimentation. This is the perfect opportunity to see the inside of a working factory floor and experience the jeans being washed, dyed & distressed. RSVP is required and spaces are limited so get in quickly!

IDENTITY: Presented by The Fashion Advocate
Date: Saturday 2 March
Times: 4pm
 

Featuring ECA-accredited brands Anthea Crawford and Tatyana Design, designers from all corners of the country will come together in the name of fashion and share their identity through one medium that we all understand – clothing. United by their sustainable and ethical practices, conscious and considered design, and their shared desire to drive positive social change, The Fashion Advocate’s community of fashion designers will step onto the runway and into the spotlight, proclaiming their identity.

VAMFF Opening Gala Runways
Date: Monday 4 March
Times: 7 PM & 8:30 PM
 

Want to see some of the latest and the greatest on the runway? Carla Zampatti AC is a renowned and ECA-accredited Australian fashion designer, revered for her glamorous and elegant ready-to-wear collections combining Australian creativity with Italian style. Carla has established a reputation as one of the most successful and respected designers in the industry and in 2015 celebrated the 50th anniversary of her eponymous fashion house. Head to the gala runways to see Carla and designs from the ECA- accredited designer Bianca Spender, who launched her eponymous line in 2009. Bianca also needs no introduction – she is renowned for sculptured and tailored designs, from a sharply cut suit to a uniquely draped gown. The label mixes structure with fluidity, resulting in looks sophisticated yet spirited. Both designers Bianca Spender & Carla Zampatti will be featured alongside local and international designers in a runway event not to be missed.

Runway 1
Date: Tuesday 5 March
Time: 7 PM
 

If you can’t make the runway on Monday, there’s still time to see Bianca Spender amongst the VAMFF runway action. The Bianca Spender label is featured on Tuesday night again amongst a thoughtfully curated line up of Australia’s leading designers in a show of colour, form and texture.

Runway 2
Date: Tuesday 5 March
Time: 8:30 PM
 

Later that evening, ECA-accredited label Arnsdorf will be part of the second runway of the day, which promises a graceful runway dedicated to the it-girl.

VAMFF x ECA x Melbourne Museum
Date: Wednesday 6 March
Time: 6 PM
 

Hopefully we’ve already told you about this one – but just in case – here’s some details on the event that ECA is proudly hosting with Melbourne Museum! Aleksandra Nedeljkovic of The Social Studio, Courtney Holm of A.BCH and Jade Sarita Arnott of Arnsdorf will be joining our National Manager Angela Bell to discuss all things ethical fashion at an event co-hosted with Melbourne Museum. The speakers will take you through their journeys to creating or supporting an ethical business in the fashion industry. This is your chance to get an in-depth understanding of the tools and decision-making process of true experts in the field who are committed to making in Australia.

Micología
Date: Wednesday 6 March
Time: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
 

Are you up for a truly different runway experience? REMUSE is a Melbourne based clothing label where futurism meets nature, fusing artisan techniques, low-impact dye technology, and natural fibres. The ECA-accredited label will be launching their biannual Equinox clothing collection and second mycology inspired release, ‘Micología II’ in a multisensory and immersive runway experience. Inspired by the cosmic origins of the kingdom of funghi, Life Cykel will be partnering to provide amazing mushroom inspired beverages and showcase their new regenerative mushroom products.

Virgin Australia Grand Showcase
Date: Wednesday 6 March
Time: 8:30 PM
 

Virgin Australia Grand Showcase spotlights iconic ECA-accredited Australian designer, Carla Zampatti, one of the nation’s most successful and globally recognised designers. You will be able to see her latest collection in a spectacular solo runway with live performance by X-Factor and Eurovision alumni, Dami Im. This is sure to be a major event, not to be missed by fashion lovers!

Runway 3
Date: Wednesday 6 March
Time: 7 PM
 

We’re excited to see ECA-accredited label VIKTORIA & WOODS on the runway with their pared-back, contemporary collections for women who value a simple, cherished and meaningful design. VIKTORIA & WOODS will feature in this runway, inspired by the editorial pages of Harper’s BAZAAR. Melbourne born and based, VIKTORIA & WOODS was launched in 2004 by Margie Woods.

Homie Pop-Up Runway
Date: Saturday 9 March
Time: 3 PM
 

There’s sure to be fun for everyone at Homie’s pop-up runway! Hyped as a Pop-up Runway in the streets, by a label for the streets, this is a free runway event showcasing the VAMFF debut of ECA-accredited brand Homie. This show is a must-see, to support this streetwear social enterprise who support youths experiencing homelessness with 100% of their profits.

The Social Studio 10 Year Retrospective in collaboration with FOMA
Date: Saturday 9 March & Sunday 10 March
Time: 10 AM to 5 PM
 

More than a clothing manufacturer, The Social Studio is also a community space welcoming new migrant and refugee communities to follow their aspirations through the vehicle of fashion. Go along and show your support for this retrospective, showcasing some stellar collaborations exploring the theme of immersion, made with iconic Australian designers that have supported The Social Studio over the past decade!

Runway 6

Fresh from their appearance at ECA’s very own VAMFF event, Melbourne label A.BCH, will take part in this runway, which celebrates homegrown Melbourne talent.

Equinox V / Vênus- Rumuse Runway
Date: Saturday 18 March
Time: 6 PM
 

Vênus will be a runway experience like no other at VAMFF! Attendees will be treated to a performance of sight, sound and scent, entering the world of ECA-accredited REMUSE. Showcasing a showcase of the labels Equinox V (Autumn 2018), ethical fashion and accompanying performance and visuals.
